Summary, before the detail
- You're responsible for what you save, tag, and mark public under your account.
- Don't use Salacious to save, host, or link to anything illegal, or to abuse, spam, or attack the service or other accounts.
- Salacious is provided as-is, with no uptime or accuracy guarantees — read section 7 before relying on it for anything critical.
1 Your account
You need an account — an email address and password — to save bookmarks with Salacious. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for everything that happens under your account, whether done by you or anyone else you've given access to it. Tell us right away if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
You must provide an accurate email address. Accounts are for individual use; there's no prohibition on a shared team account, but one person on that team is responsible for its conduct as far as these terms are concerned.
2 Acceptable use
Don't use Salacious to:
- Save, tag, or share content that's illegal where you or Salacious operates, or that infringes someone else's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights.
- Harass, threaten, or impersonate another person or account.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to another account, or to the server or database behind Salacious itself.
- Send spam, or use the bookmarklet, extension, or API to scrape, flood, or otherwise abuse the service at a volume or rate a normal individual user wouldn't generate.
- Circumvent the domain blocklist or any other technical restriction this service applies to what can be bookmarked.
We can remove content or suspend an account that violates this section — see section 6.
3 Your content
You keep ownership of whatever you save — titles, URLs, tags, and notes you write yourself. By saving something, you're not transferring ownership of it to us. You're responsible for having the right to save and, if you choose to make it public, share whatever you bookmark.
Some fields — a page's description, preview image, site name, and favicon — are fetched automatically from the URL you save, so that data reflects whatever the linked page itself publishes, not something Salacious originates.
4 Public bookmarks & voting
A bookmark you mark public is visible to anyone — on your profile, in Browse, and by direct link — and can be upvoted or downvoted by other accounts. Making something public doesn't waive your ownership of it, but it does mean other visitors can see it, and that saving something already public is treated as a vote of confidence in it (an automatic upvote — see the dashboard for how this works).
We can remove a public bookmark, or the account behind it, if it violates section 2 above.
5 Availability & changes
Salacious is offered on an as-available basis. Features, limits, and this service itself can change, and self-hosted deployments in particular are run at their own operator's discretion — there's no guarantee this specific instance stays running indefinitely.
6 Suspension & termination
We can suspend or terminate an account that violates section 2, without advance notice where the violation is serious (security attacks, illegal content) and with reasonable notice otherwise. You can stop using Salacious and request deletion of your account at any time — see the Support page.
7 Disclaimer & limitation of liability
Salacious is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, availability, or fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Salacious and its operator aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including loss of saved data.
Nothing here limits liability that can't legally be limited in your jurisdiction. This is a starting template, not legal advice — have it reviewed for your actual deployment and jurisdiction before relying on it.
8 Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the "Effective" date at the top of this page will be updated. Continuing to use Salacious after a change takes effect means you accept the revised terms.
